The best sun & beach hotels
Since we started this blog, we have written about capsule hotels, boutique hotels, theme hotels, art hotels, underwater hotels and luxury hotels. It’s pretty common to classify hotels and, in fact, today we are going to talk about a type of hotels we’ve never written about: sun & beach hotels. Trivago has recently published a ranking with the best sun & beach hotels in Spain according to their online reputation. We are going to have a look at them and see what makes them so special. Vincci Selección Aleysa Hotel Boutique & Spa The Vincci Selección Aleysa Hotel Boutique & Spa in Benalmádena, Andalusia, belongs to Vinci Hotels. It is not only the best rated hotel in Spain but also the best beachfront hotel. It has 35 rooms and it’s the only boutique hotel in the area. Devout foodies can enjoy the latest haute cuisine offerings and the best sea views in the hotel’s restaurant, the Alamar. It’s specialized in Mediterranean cuisine with international touches. Besides, the hotel’s spa, the Oshum Spa, has become a benchmark on the Spanish Sun Coast, as it completes the hotel’s offer with waterbeds, thermal pools and personalized treatments. You can find them on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, where you can find incredible pictures and general information about this hotel chain. Seaside Grand Hotel For the fifth consecutive year, this is the best beach hotel in the Canary Islands. In the middle of a tropical garden on Maspalomas beach, this colonial-style hotel is profusely decorated and visitors will forget that it’s actually a beach hotel. It has all kinds of commodities for guests to enjoy their stay and relax thanks to its decorations, which convey a feeling of calmness. A luxury hotel as this one couldn’t do without a spa where guests can soothe themselves thanks to a Talassotherapy pool, different types of sauna, salt caves and multi-sensory showers. Nature, color and the islanders’ warmth are enjoyed to the full in the hotel’s restaurant, where guests can enjoy traditional food from the Canary Islands and views to the dunes the island is famous for. Alén do Mar The Alén do Mar hotel is located on the Finisterre Cape in Galicia, Northwestern Spain, and it’s the best rated hotel in Galicia and the third one in Spain. It’s a small and, apparently, modest hotel but it has a strong personality. It offers customized services and a warm, familiar atmosphere. Its eleven rooms combine a modern design with traditional Galician architecture. It’s surrounded by nature and guests can sail, surf or scuba dive in the Atlantic Ocean. You will find them on Twitter and Facebook, where, even if they are not very active, they keep guests informed about their activities. Playasol This hotel in Cadaqués, Catalonia, has been recently refurbished, coinciding with its 50 anniversary. It’s located on a sunny cove, far from crowded beaches and not far from the center of the town. The hotel’s rooms look towards the town, the sea or the awesome surrounding gardens. Some of them have a private Jacuzzi. This hotel is so charming mostly because of its location in the fishing town of Cadaqués, which still has the charm of the traditional Mediterranean way of living. You can visit them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+. Marítimo Ris This is the best hotel in Cantabria, in Northern Spain. It’s a resort with a hotel and some apartments with small, but fully equipped and comfortable, rooms with amazing views to the coast of Noja. It’s really close to Ris beach, so close that guests have direct access to the beach from their own room. They also have an outside swimming pool and a spa with Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. They use to post news related to the hotel world on Facebook. Lago Garden This hotel in Cala Ratjada -a tourist area with a long fishing tradition in Northeastern Majorca- is surrounded by beaches with natural dunes and crystal water where guests can enjoy underwater life. It has elegant and sophisticated rooms surrounded by palm trees and native plants. Guests can choose between double and familiar rooms with private terrace. Their imperial suite, with over 160 sq m is the biggest and most exclusive room in the hotel. We have tried to find them on social networking sites, but it looks like they are not very active online. Las Arenas Balneario Resort Las Arenas belongs to the chain Hoteles Santos and it’s located on the famous Malvarrosa beach in Valencia. It’s the second time that this 5-star hotel is on this Trivago list. A former health spa, it preserves its beautiful traditional architecture. In fact, the Spa Las Arenas is the crown jewel of this hotel, offering different treatments depending on the time of the year: aromatherapy, chromotherapy, musical therapy, and holistic and oriental therapies. The Brasserie Sorolla offers a well-rounded gastronomic experience, specialized in traditional cuisine. Their team is led by the chef José María Baldo. This hotel is on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Hotel Saiaz Getaria This list would not be complete without a hotel in the Basque Country. The Saiaz Getaria is between the Gaztetape beach and Getaria old town, in Gipuzkoa. Its privileged location offers guests unique views from each room. The hotel has several bay windows so that guests can see the cliffs. Each room is decorated differently but all of them have thick stone walls, as some parts of the building date from the Middle Ages. This is also the reason why they have a great collection of antiquities. They are active on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Villa Rosario The Villa Rosario hotel is located on the beautiful seafront promenade of Ribadesella, Asturias, so it has direct access to Santa María beach. Surrounded by the sea and the mountains, this former palace has been completely renovated but it still preserves some of its original decorations in its 17 spacious rooms. The hotel has a restaurant where guests can taste traditional food from Asturias. The hotel is active on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr. Hotel Servigroup Galúa The Hotel Servigroup Galúa is in La Manga del Mar Menor, Murcia, in Southeastern Spain, a very attractive area thanks to its seaside sandspit of almost 22 km long which makes people enjoy warm water. They are decorated in orange and turquoise and most of them have large windows to enjoy the sea view. The hotel has a wellness center which includes dry and wet sauna, a whirlpool tub and a gym.
